Donating to (JAWA)

Question: Can I donate money to the (JAWA) Clan, to help pay for the server or forums?
Answer: Yes, if you have a PayPal account, you may donate money to the clan. Simply click on the yellow "Donate" button at the top of the forums.

The Clan

A Jawa Member.

Question: How long has (JAWA) been around?
Answer: The (JAWA) Clan was created by Matt and Iniowe in October, 2004. The clan briefly vanished in late 2005, but was reborn in January, 2006.

Question: Does (JAWA) stand for anything?
Answer: Technically, no. It's just the name chosen by Matt and Iniowe back in 2004. But some time ago the clan decided that it would stand for Juice And Water Association.

Question: If this is the (JAWA) Clan, where are all the Jawas?
Answer: At the beginning of the clan, all members were required to be Jawas. This rule was changed in 2005, so that members are free to use any model. We have been known to put on our ceremonial robes for special events, however! You may also be interested in Jawaese.

Question: Who is the leader of the (JAWA) Clan?
Answer: Link has been the leader of the clan since 2005. In 2006 and 2007 several other members were also given the status of leader, but today Link governs with the help of the (JAWA) Council.

Question: How can I apply for membership?
Answer: People who have played Jedi Academy for at least a month can apply by posting an application in the Applications Forum. Please read this topic and use the form provided.

Question: What happens after I apply for membership?
Answer: A council member will review the application. If everything is in order, a poll will be made in the members-only section of the forums, so that members can vote on whether to grant the applicant a trial. If the application is rejected, you will be notified and the reasons why the application was rejected will be explained. In most cases, you may apply again in two months. If the application is accepted, you will receive a two-week trial period. If you remain active and well-behaved, at the end of your trial a council member will make you a full member at the rank of Initiate.

Question: How can former members rejoin the clan?
Answer: Former members may post applications on the Applications Forum. Members who have only been gone for a short time may be allowed to return at their former rank. Other members may be allowed to rejoin at the rank of Initiate. Members who left or were removed from the clan due to inactivity may be asked to remain active for some time before rejoining. Members who have been gone for more than a year are required to undergo a trial period.

Question: Do I have to be active after I posted an application or I recived my trial?
Answer: Yes, it is easier for us to know you, create a social relations with you and to make your application poll successful. It applies to those who have been accepted in to the clan trial basis. Please remain active both on the server and forums.

Question: Where can I find the rules?
Answer: The current rules for the clan, server, and forums can be found HERE. You can also click on the word "Rules" at the top of this page, or in the banner at the top of the forums.

Question: What ranks does the clan have?
Answer: You can see a list of our current ranks HERE. You can also click on the word "Ranks" at the top of this page, or in the banner at the top of the forums.

Question: When will I be promoted?
Answer: (JAWA) is not a skill-based clan, so most of the ranks can be obtained simply by remaining active on the server and forums, following the rules, and contributing to the life of the clan. Active members can expect to spend a few weeks at each of the lower ranks, up to several months at some of the higher ranks. The highest ranks, which have yellow tags, are awarded based on skill, loyalty, and contributions to the clan.

Question: How can I apply for a teacher?
Answer: (JAWA) has no formal master-padawan system at this time. We've tried that before, but the system wasn't used very much. Any member may agree to train you. You're also welcome to attend (JAWA) School, a class held on the server every Friday. (JAWA) School is open to guests, as well as members.

Question: What are the Elite Trials?
Answer: The Elite Trials are a series of tests that members must pass in order to hold the ranks of Elite and Master. Currently, you must hold the rank of Knight and have been a member for at least three months prior to applying for the trials. Applications should be posted in the Applications Forum. The (JAWA) Council will decide whether to grant the application, and successful applicants will be referred to the Trial Masters to schedule their trials. Trialists must pass at least two of the three trials in order to obtain these ranks.

Question: What is the difference between the ranks of Elite and Master?
Answer: In order to hold either rank, a member must have passed the Elite Trials. However, a member who has passed the Elite Trials and been awarded the rank of Disciple automatically receives the rank of Master. The Disciple rank is awarded based on loyalty and contributions to the clan other than those involving skill. Thus, the (JAWA) Masters are those who have both attained the pinnacle of skill and demonstrated their loyalty through long service to the clan.

Question: Does (JAWA) have any allies?
Answer: Yes, we've had a number of allies in our history. You can see a list of our current allies HERE. If you're a member of another clan and would like to request an alliance, please read this post.

Question: Does (JAWA) play any games other than Jedi Academy?
Answer: Not at this time. In the past, the clan has experimented with other games, but our experience was that this caused server traffic and activity to decline.

The Server

Question: What is the server IP?
Answer: The main server IP is 174.36.202.149:29070. You can also connect to the server by typing "/connect jawa.servegame.com" or "/connect server.thejawaclan.com" in the console. We also have a second server for events. This server is normally locked, but can be unlocked by a member of the (JAWA) Council. The IP for the event server is 174.37.209.120:29070, or you can connect by typing "connect jawa2.servegame.com" or "/connect server2.thejawaclan.com" in the console.

Question: What mods and damage scale are on the server?
Answer: The (JAWA) server uses the "Jedi Academy Plus" mod by Slider. The damage scale is JA+ MultiPlayer, without modification.

Question: What events do you host on the (JAWA) Server?
Answer: Our default game type is Free-For-All, but we regularly play other events, including Siege, Capture-the-Flag, Team Free-For-All, Merc War, and many others. Some of these events may be moved to the event server so that players can continue to FFA on the main server. Most of these events require a council member to change the server settings; however, minor events that can be held in FFA mode may be organized at any time. In addition to random events, we have a weekly event each Tuesday.

Question: Who can authorize a clan match?
Answer: Any Ambassador or member of the (JAWA) Council may arrange clan matches with another group.

Question: What maps are on the (JAWA) Server?
Answer: The (JAWA) Server includes all base Jedi Academy maps, as well as several maps that can be downloaded HERE. To install the maps, place the pk3 files in your base folder. If you don't want to use them, simply remove them from your base folder. You don't need to throw them out; you can simply place them in a separate folder.

Question: Does (JAWA) have a clan map?
Answer: Yes, we have a map called "The (JAWA) Temple", which can be downloaded on our Downloads page. This map is still under construction, but is nearly finished and is part of the rotation on the server.

Question: Is there a (JAWA) Skinpack?
Answer: Yes, we have a skinpack which is updated a few times per year. You can download it from our Downloads page, and install only the skins you want by placing the pk3 files in your base folder. To uninstall them, simply remove them from your base folder.

Question: Does (JAWA) allow custom sabers?
Answer: No, only base lightsabers are installed on the (JAWA) Server. This ensures that all players compete using the same damage scale.

Question: Does (JAWA) have a teamspeak channel?
Answer: We've had several teamspeak channels over the history of the clan. Typically, they're very active when new, and then gradually become inactive. At the moment, there is no teamspeak.

Rule-breakers

Question: Where can I report rule-breakers on the server?
Answer: You may report rule-breakers to any Server Admin on the server by typing "/amsay (your message here)" in the console. You can find a list of (JAWA) Admins on our Server Page. You may also report rule-breakers by posting in the rule breaker reports forum.

Question: Can I report (JAWA) members breaking rules?
Answer: Absolutely. Our rules apply to members and guests alike. You may report rule-breakers to Link or any member of the (JAWA) Council, and your name will be kept confidential.

Question: How can I report an admin abusing his or her powers?
Answer: We take our duties as server admins very seriously. If you believe that an admin has misused his or her powers, you may report it to Link or any member of the (JAWA) Council. Your name will be kept confidential. You may also post a report on our Admin Abuse Forum. For further information, please read this post.

Question: What do I do if I have a problem with Link or a member of the (JAWA) Council?
Answer: Generally, the best thing to do is simply talk to the person, or to another member of the council. Nobody is ever punished simply for personal differences with another member. We'll try to resolve the issue in everyone's favour.

The (JAWA) League

Question: What is the (JAWA) League?
Answer: The (JAWA) League is a monthly tournament for (JAWA) members only. The League is normally held on the last Sunday of each month, although it has been postponed from time to time. The server is locked for the duration of the tournament. Non-members are not able to attend, because every slot is needed for clan members who wish to participate. Trial members are allowed to participate, but must obtain the server password from a member of the (JAWA) Council. For more information and a list of events, click HERE.

Question: Who is the (JAWA) Champion?
Answer: The (JAWA) Champion is a member of the clan who has won the Duel Tournament during the (JAWA) League, and either defeated the reigning champion, or succeeded to a vacant championship. The first (JAWA) Champion was HI, who held the title for eleven months. BloodRaven equalled this record in 2009. Eleven other members have held the championship at various times.

The Forums

Question: When will my forum account be activated?
Answer: Most accounts are activated within twenty-four hours.

Question: How can I access my account after losing my username or password?
Answer: You can see a list of all forum members HERE. The list can be sorted by name, joining date, or post count. If you have lost your password, it can be sent to the e-mail address used to register the account.

Question: When will I be able to see members-only sections of the forums?
Answer: Trial members are not given access to certain forums, such as (JAWA) Central. When they become full members at the end of their trial periods, they are added to the clan members user group, and can see these forums. Sometimes there is a delay in changing a forum member's user group. Please notify Link if you haven't been added to the correct user group.

Question: What is WikiJawa?
Answer: WikiJawa is a Wikipedia-style database maintained by the (JAWA) Clan. It includes member profiles, the rules, frequently asked questions, information about our allies, clan matches, and information about the clan's history, ranks, and our hall of fame. Unlike some Wikis, only council members can edit WikiJawa. However, members are welcome to submit information, including their character stories, for inclusion in their profiles.

Question: How do I report errors on the forum or WikiJawa?
Answer: Simply contact any member of the (JAWA) Council.
